  • Michelle Benson, MS, CN
    Michelle Benson is a certified nutritionist and functional medicine nutrition practitioner specializing in the intersection of nutrition, mental health, and eating psychology. At HartsSpace Mental Health and Nutrition, she provides individual nutrition and mind-body eating counseling, group programs, and retreats focused on sustainable behavior change, nervous system regulation, and metabolic health. Michelle’s work integrates functional medicine nutrition, mind-body eating psychology, and lifestyle medicine approaches to support individuals struggling with emotional eating, metabolic dysregulation, and mental health challenges. She regularly leads workshops, accountability groups, and educational programs focused on the gut–brain connection and the role of nutrition in mental wellness.

  • Dr. Madeline Kay, PhD
    Dr. Madeline Kay has spent the last decade on an expedition undertaking the philosophical teachings and professional trainings of clinical and organizational psychology. Specializing in whole-person wellness and the resuscitation of the inner child's dreams, Dr. Kay has created a healing practice that utilizes evidence-based techniques with the restorative art of human connection. The October Hour took many years to develop and thus, remains a precious and exclusive experience set apart from other therapeutic and organizational practices. Within The October Hour, Dr. Kay aims to cultivate purpose and empower creativity with an emphasis on individualization and relatability, which drives performance enhancement throughout one's life and within organizations. This growth process focuses on constructing a personalized space for individuals to explore themselves and their world in a unique, safe way, as well as for leaders to unlock industry potential.

  • Dr. Kris Peterson, M.D., COL (Ret), MC
    Dr. Peterson is a double-board-certified physician in General Psychiatry and in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with over 25 years of experience. A PNW native who graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in New York, he went on to attend the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland for Medical School. He worked as an intern and resident in Psychiatry at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington DC. He went on to complete his fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. At Madigan Army Medical Center, Dr. Peterson started the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry program and moved on to serve as the Chief of the Department of Psychiatry at Madigan for over seven years. Dr. Peterson retired as an Army Colonel in 2012 and now serves both the civilian and military community though his growing practice in Lakewood with a specialty in effective treatments for Treatment Resistant Depression (TRD), Anxiety, and PTSD. His wife and 3 kids are a strong support to him and to his practice.

  • Katie Hart, MS, CN, LMHC
    Katie Hart, MS, CN, LMHC is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Nutritionist recognized for her expertise at the intersection of mental health, functional nutrition, and lifestyle medicine. She is the founder of Hartsspace Mental Health & Nutrition, an integrative practice dedicated to supporting individuals and communities in achieving whole-person wellness through education, counseling, and experiential learning. Katie’s work emphasizes the critical connections between neurobiology, metabolism, and emotional regulation. She combines clinical psychology, functional nutrition, and behavior change science to help clients and clinicians translate complex physiological insights—including gut health, stress hormones, inflammation, and nutrient status—into actionable strategies for improved mental health and sustainable behavior change. With more than fifteen years of experience, Katie has worked in private practice, trauma-informed care settings, and graduate-level education. She previously served as a child abuse and trauma specialist and forensic interviewer at Monarch Children's Justice & Advocacy Center, and has taught graduate courses in child and adolescent therapy, psychological assessment, and motivational interviewing at Bastyr University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Science and Theater from Carnegie Mellon University, with early focus on artificial intelligence and human cognition. Katie currently works with individuals, small groups, and professional teams, providing mentorship, coaching, and one-on-one patient care. Through Hartsspace, she is building smaller, connected communities of learning and health, empowering participants to translate knowledge into sustainable practices that support mental wellness, metabolic balance, and resilience.

  • Dr. Jennifer Stewart, PhD.
    Dr. Jennifer Stewart (she/her) earned her doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Fordham University, an APA-accredited program. She also holds a Master of Science in Education in Mental Health Counseling from Fordham and a bachelor’s degree in Applied Psychology and Human Development from Boston College. Dr. Stewart completed her predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at VA Puget Sound Health Care System – American Lake, where she specialized in PTSD treatment and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She has worked in a variety of settings including partial hospitalization programs, psychiatric inpatient units, college counseling centers, private practice, and multiple VA medical centers. Dr. Stewart brings a warm, collaborative approach to therapy and works with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds. She practices from a multicultural, holistic, and intersectional perspective that honors the many identities and experiences each person brings to the therapeutic space. She has extensive training in trauma treatment, DBT, and other evidence-based approaches, and feels deeply grateful to support clients as they move toward healing, growth, and a more meaningful life. Outside of her clinical work, Dr. Stewart enjoys spending time outdoors, practicing yoga, hiking, and gently negotiating with her cat to stay off the kitchen counter.

  • Ammanfil Oreta, LMHC
    Ammanfil Oreta, LMHC, is the Program Director of OCD Anxiety Centers in Federal Way, Washington, specializing in the treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and anxiety-related disorders. He achieved his Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from Washington State University and Master's of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Bastyr University. He provides evidence-based Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and values-driven treatment. As a compassionate clinical leader, Ammanfil supervises and trains an ERP-focused team and guides clients to confront fear and build lives aligned with their values. Informed by expertise and personal experience with OCD, his work emphasizes love, humor, and common humanity.
