Anxiety and OCD: What Community Providers Need to Know

CE Hours 1.5

About this live event

Many clients with an anxiety disorder or OCD spend years in treatment without meaningful improvement—not because they’re “treatment resistant,” but because these disorders are often misunderstood and inadvertently reinforced in care. This training is designed to close that gap. Attendees will gain a practical, research-informed understanding of anxiety disorders and OCD, with a specific focus on how these conditions function, how they differ from one another, and how to make informed clinical decisions about what helps, and what harms

Learning Objectives

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the nature of OCD and anxiety, as well as hallmark features to look for.
  • Describe evidence-based care for OCD and anxiety, how and why it works, and how to help clients navigate treatment resources in the community.
  • Utilize an actionable list of dos and don’ts for supporting someone through OCD and anxiety recovery.

  • beginner/intermediate

Live event Instructor(s)

  • Montu Jani, MHA, LMHC, LPC

Montu Jani, LMHC, LPC is a licensed mental health counselor in Washington and a licensed professional counselor in Alaska. He currently serves as Program Director at OCD Anxiety Centers in Bellevue, Washington, where he provides clinical leadership, supports therapist development, and helps ensure high-quality, evidence-based care for individuals and families impacted by OCD and anxiety disorders. Prior to moving to Washington, Montu served as the Chief Clinical Officer at North Star Hospital in Alaska, overseeing acute, residential, and outpatient programs and playing a key role in expanding access to mental health services in rural and underserved communities.

Montu is deeply passionate about mental health education, stigma reduction, and increasing access to effective, compassionate care. His commitment to this work is personal, shaped by witnessing his parents—immigrants from India—struggle to access mental health services due to cultural stigma and systemic barriers. This experience fueled his goal of reducing obstacles to care and advocating for more inclusive mental health systems. Montu holds two master’s degrees, one in Clinical Counseling from Longwood University and another in Health Administration from George Washington University. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending time with friends.
